I loved Momento Temporis and will replay it. A UNIQUE and creative Metroidvania that doesn't hold your hand and rewards exploration and the discovery of secret rooms. I got the same kind of "I want to explore this new world" feeling I did when I started playing ESA (Environmental Station Alpha). It will have future areas unlocked, but the price is right for the amount of content you get now. I don't agree with the negative reviews regarding this topic at all. The developer fixed a bug I reported faster than anyone else ever has for me so clearly he is still supporting and developing. He also answered other questions I had very promptly. Not a single negative in my opinion.. The mechanics are satisfying and the art is nice (except for the main character). I just hope the missing content gets added in a timely fashion, as I'd love to actually play through the complete game.. Pretty frustrated end-user here. I was really enjoying this, and then it up and left me. No indication anywhere in-game that it's not finished until BAM - this is all we have for now, thanks for playing our non-early access game. I now know the dev updates make this clear, but they're buried in posts not on the front page. I'll update this after the game is finished, but the devs never should have taken this out of early access. No matter how fun something is (and this was fun) I can't recommend something that looks finished that isn't.. Failed attempt at a metroidvania game, avoid at all costs. Cheap deaths, annoying difficulty curve and a horrible melee mechanic turn this game from what seems like a promising title into a big disappointment!. Fun and challenging, but i hate the ladderface. BUILD: Beta 1.0.2Momento Temporis is a metroidvania 2D action adventure platformer featuring pixel-art graphics. Explore the world and learn spells, fight bosses and lots more in this magical universe. The game was made by Burning Ice Games and published by 501 Industries.I received the game for free after writing a feedback article on another 501 game; Pro Gamer Manager. I was then sent the Steam code for the game and after watching the trailers I couldn't wait to get to play it, I downloaded it as soon as I could and gave it a try.I haven't got very far into the game yet but in my experience the game has been very good; the soundtrack is rather good and the gameplay it self is pretty good too, I personally love the combat system and how simple but challenging the game is; it takes what classic platforming should be and makes it great; keeping the retro feel while it's at it. I haven't got into any big puzzles that the game promises yet or faced any of the bosses and I can't wait to get further into the game to see some of those things.Personally I love the graphic style. The 8-bit graphic style makes the game run on any PC and is still very attractive while doing so. The retro style is also attractive to almost everyone; older gamers love that the retro feel is there and younger gamers can get straight into it as the gameplay is easy to play and looks great too. The one thing that I absolutely loved was the 8-bit lens flare which occured when I was playing. It looked amazing and it just sums up why I love the style. One notable thing is that the game throws you straight into the deep end as it currently features no tutorial. This left me a little confused when playing the game as I had to look at the controls before I could get straight into it. I was also stuck when the character (who I haven't learnt much about yet) talks at the very start of the game; a little "Press () to continue" would be nice so that people didn't have to go through every key.Of course, remember that this game is currently in Beta. I will most likely come across bugs while I play but these will surely be fixed in the future when the game is fully released. I currently recommend this game as it's a great 2D platformer which is sure to evolve in the future. The price is a bit high and I'm not sure if I would pay 7.99 while it is still in Beta but I would 100% pay full price in the future when the few issues are fixed and more things are added.Pros:- Loveable 8-bit graphics- Classic and great gameplay; great combat system- Awesome platforming mechanicsCons:- Needs a more in-depth tutorial- Throws you straight into the deep endIn conclusion, I can't wait to play more of this game and see it evolve. Good job so far!. This is an Early Access game that decided to pretend it was complete. It's not, and it straight up tells you so after a certain point. Decent mechanics, solid execution, a good idea behind it all, but I don't give a thumbs up to dishonesty.. I will start by saying I played less then an hour...Cons:The map is terrible. You cant look back at previous areas that I could find. The doors from the rooms arent marked. Items you can collect arent marked. There is no mini map.The stamina melee based combat isnt fun. I realize this is a subjective opinion. However, when fighting more than one enemy it doesnt feel "difficult" it feels unfair.Your character moves really slowly (perhaps this upgrades later, I dont know)Save points can be a little far apartThere is forced fall damage. It is a very small amount of damage but there were several places at the beginning of the game you are forced to jump down and take fall damage.Pros:If you are into the pixel art style it is well done.I still love metroidvanias!Perhaps I will give it more of a try later but at this point I cant recommend it. If you are looking for a good metroidvania I recommend Environmental Station Alpha, Axiom Verge, or Ori and the Blind Forest
